PSITE Northern Mindanao Chapter Leads the Way in AI-Powered Research Excellence

Malaybalay City, Bukidnon – PSITE Northern Mindanao Chapter spearheaded aย Seminar-Workshop on Leveraging AI Tools for Research Excellenceย on November 28-29, 2024. Held at Bukidnon State University, the event brought together educators and researchers from various schools and universities across Northern Mindanao to explore the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in the pursuit of academic research excellence.

Day 1 opened with a compelling session led by Mr. Raul Lecaros, who underscored how AI tools can enhance research processes by automating repetitive tasks and refining data analysis. Day 2 continued the momentum with an engaging workshop facilitated by Mr. Louie Jay Labastida. He provided participants with hands-on experience in utilizing AI tools to tackle complex research challenges and improve productivity.

This event marked another milestone for PSITE Northern Mindanao, reinforcing its commitment to advancing the regionโ€™s research capabilities through innovation and technology.

PSITE Region 10 Officers Pay Courtesy Visit to BukSU President

The officers of the Philippine Society of Information Technology Educators (PSITE) Region 10 recently paid a courtesy visit to the President of Bukidnon State University (BukSU), strengthening their partnership ahead of the upcoming Seminar Workshop on Leveraging AI Tools for Research Excellence.

The meeting with BukSU President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol focused on collaborative efforts to enhance IT education and research in Northern Mindanao. As the host of the seminar workshop, BukSU plays a pivotal role in providing a platform for educators, researchers, and industry professionals to explore the latest advancements in AI tools and methodologies.

PSITE Region 10 expressed gratitude for BukSU’s support and hospitality. The organization is excited about the opportunities this partnership brings in empowering PSITE members with valuable resources and knowledge to advance their research and teaching practices.

The seminar workshop is set to feature speakers who will share insights on leveraging AI for productivity and innovation. PSITE Region 10 looks forward to a successful event and ongoing collaborations that will benefit the IT community in the region.

PSITE-Region 10 Officers Attend CISCon 2024 for Benchmarking Towards 1st Global Conference on IT Education

Officers of the Philippine Society of Information Technology Educators (PSITE) – Region 10 attended the 3rd International Conference on Computing and Information Sciences (CISCon 2024) held at Caraga State Universityโ€™s Main Campus in Butuan City from October 28 to 31, 2024. The visit aimed to conduct a benchmarking activity in preparation for the upcoming 1st Global Conference on IT Education (GCITE), which PSITE-Region 10 will organize in April 2025 as its first international research activity.

Several key officers of PSITE-Region 10 participated in the benchmarking activities:

In addition to the benchmarking activity, two officers from Northern Bukidnon State College also presented their research papers during CISCon 2024 under Track 2: Digital Innovation, ICT, and Technopreneurship:

The Philippine Society of Information Technology Educators (PSITE) and the Council of Deans in Information Technology Education (CoDITE) Region 2 convened today for a Consultative Meeting and Roadmap Planning with top industry experts.

The focus of the meeting was to develop a strategic roadmap aimed at enhancing the BS Information Technology curriculum, by incorporating specialized fields like Networking, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, and Digital Forensic and Incident Reporting to address industry demands and equip educators with advanced, industry-relevant skills.

Dr. Betchie Aguinaldo, PSITE CV Vice President โ€“ External, opened the session, welcoming attendees and introducing the programโ€™s objectives. While Dr. Bernandino Malang, PSITE VP for Luzon inspires the attendees to embrace the opportunity with industry experts to raise the bar of faculty competence to produce a future-ready and competent workforce of IT graduates that will create an impactful education.

Mr. Andrei Manuel, Manager of Huawei Talent Ecosystem, followed and discussed Huaweiโ€™s extensive support for IT education through Certification Courses and Training Programs for faculty and students. Attendees then participated in breakout sessions, each led by experts in key areas of IT.

Dr. Joseph A. Esquivel, CISCO Administrator and Digital Forensic & Incident Reporting specialist, discussed tailored training plans and emphasized the value of certification for faculty development. AWS expert Dr. Jonilo Mababa outlined the onboarding process for faculty interested in cloud certification, while Orica cybersecurity specialist Mr. Jonathan Roco Apostol offered his support for upcoming cybersecurity workshops, sharing targeted training goals to enhance faculty competencies in the field.

Engr. Roy Pamintalan, a trainer in Mikrotik networking, highlighted that Networking requires only basic foundational skills and provided details on Mikrotikโ€™s free certification offeringsโ€”covering Network Associate, User Management Engineer, and Routing Engineer certifications, each with a three-year validity and a one-day refresher course. Additionally, participating member schools received free networking devices as part of Mikrotikโ€™s commitment to educational support.

PSITE CV Vice President Internal Dr. Arvin Alonzo concluded the meeting by summarizing key takeaways and outlining next steps, followed by closing remarks from PSITE CV President, Dr. Ramoncito Adducul, who expressed gratitude to the faculty attendees for their commitment to advancing IT education.

The consultative meeting between PSITE, CoDITE Region II, and industry experts represents a step toward evolving IT education in the region. By integrating in-demand specializations into the Information Technology curriculum and with support from industry giants like Huawei, AWS, CISCO, and Mikrotik, Region II sets the position of IT education with industry-aligned curriculum that prepares faculty and students with the competencies required to excel in the digital landscape
